Bratz Dolls were a controversial topic in my household. I enjoyed them because they had nice clothes. They also had shoes I could take off and change easily, that would inevitably get lost. They were the only dolls at the time that had my skin tone. My mom liked them for this reason. She thought they would help me love myself as I was. My dad on the other hand did not agree at all. He associated them with hoochie mama culture and thought it would teach me bad morals. He was fearful of me wanting to wear short skirts and high heels. I've heard stories about how my parents would argue about what I played with. Its interesting because at that time was way too young to even care about these things. They were pretty and fun to play with. If anything they made me want a close knit group of friends who were reliable and supportive. Funny isn't it?
